Northampton, PA The Northampton Bank $50 Very Fine+, 1841
Circulating during the 1840s, this bill was emblematic of the period during which bank checks were evolving: the bill is made out to a specific person (T Butz) but is a bearer instrument. Whomever held this note could demand to be paid in coin upon surrender at the bank. Main elements include a cornucopia, a representation of trade and waterway transportation along with Franklin and Washington. A nice, original, issue-free obsolete banknote.
The note was photographed on a black background. Due to the thinness of the paper, it makes the note look darker than it is in person.
